Proverbs 11:6: The righteousness of the upright will deliver them, but the unfaithful will be caught by their lust.

Insight

Another benefit of righteous living is deliverance, escape from troubles or death. But even the evil desires of an unfaithful (lit., “treacherous”) person get him in trouble. He is trapped, for his desires lead him to sin. 1

Application

Romans 6:13 presents a solid biblical response to the trap behind the temptation.

”And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.” Mediate on this verse for a few minutes.

Motivation

Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.” John 6:27
