Proverbs 3:21–23: My son, let them not depart from your eyes— Keep sound wisdom and discretion; So they will be life to your soul and grace to your neck. Then you will walk safely in your way, and your foot will not stumble.

Insight

Again we listen to wisdom’s voice. Her repetitions are not vain repetitions but need to be impressed on young people (Isaiah 28:9–10). They should be your much-loved treasure and your daily guide; so do not let them out of your sight. God’s teaching is sound judgment, full of light and substance. Keep it so that you may have discernment in everything you do. Keeping one’s eye constantly on the Word of God prevents one’s feet from slipping. 1

Application

Do you have a heart to train your children and reach the next generation as committed followers of Jesus Christ? Consider the exhortation from Isaiah 28:9–10: “Whom will he teach knowledge? And whom will he make to understand the message? Those just weaned from milk? Those just drawn from the breasts? For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little.” Will you ask God to expand your heart for His Word and to impart a vision for Discipleship? Will you make this a new priority in your life?

Motivation

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. John 8:31
