Proverbs 21:21: He who follows righteousness and mercy finds life, righteousness and honor.

Insight

Holiness must be our way of life every day, as well as our religious duty. We are to pursue righteousness, not as a daily chore, but as a delight. It should flow from a heart filled with fearless love. We are to pursue this righteousness as our goal. 1

Application

Paul helped us to understand what the pursuit of holiness is all about in 2 Timothy 2:22: Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Notice that there is something to stop pursuing and something to start pursuing. We must let go of the immature pursuits of youthful living and make it our aim to pursue four new character building qualities: righteousness (make good biblical decisions), faith (trust in God with all your heart), love (with an unconditional passion), and peace (no longer have a spirit of contention).

Motivation

Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord. Hebrews 12:14

Prayer

Father, thank You for pursuing me, and for never giving up on me.
