Jesus is Essential
John 4:11–14: The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?” Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
What the Samaritan woman understood him to say was that God was the only one who could satisfy her longing, but even more, Jesus was claiming to be the one who could give her the divine drink she needed. From our advantaged position we know he was talking about the impartation of life through the Holy Spirit. What Jesus was saying to the woman was this: Nothing will ever satisfy our longings and dissatisfactions except for a long and continuous drink of God the Holy Spirit. 1
Walking with Jesus
You can not blame others for your unsatisfied life. True satisfying fulfillment comes from the One who gives living water. When was the last time you tasted the goodness of the Lord?
On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. John 7:37
It is the will of God to take personal responsibility and drink freely from His well. – TWEET IT
