Jesus is Essential
John 17:1: Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You.
The word glory is used eight times in this prayer, so it is an important theme. He glorified the Father in His miracles; but He brought the greatest glory to the Father through His sufferings and death. From the human point of view, Calvary was a revolting display of man’s sin; but from the divine point of view, the cross revealed and magnified the grace and glory of God. 1
Walking with Jesus
Jesus explained how our life can glorify Him. Read Matthew 5:13-16 and learn about His desires for your life. Is your life seasoned with grace? Is your Christian testimony hidden to others? Does your life shine for Jesus? Pray that your life will bring greater glory to Him, and less attention to yourself.
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9–11
Our purpose in life is not to live for our glory, but to live for His glory.
Praying
Lord, thank You for being so patience with me as I slowly die to self and learn to live for You and Your purposes.
