Jesus is Essential

John 13:18–20: “I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.’ Now I tell you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe that I am He. Most assuredly, I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.”

Jesus is very careful to tell them that He does not speak of all of them. He has just told them they are happy if they do these things, but there is one man among them who cannot do them. Do you know why? He has not believed. Jesus has already told them that all of them are not clean. Jesus had said, “Ye call me Master and Lord.” A master is a teacher and he is to be believed. A lord is to be obeyed. Faith and obedience must go together. Saving, living faith leads to obedience. Judas did not have this faith. 1

Walking with Jesus

The proof of saving faith is found in sanctified living. That means that a Christian is set apart from the world to do the will of the Lord, and not their own will. Do you say: “My kingdom has come and my will be done, now lets have some fun?” Or is your daily prayer about thanking God that you get to be a part of His everlasting Kingdom? Are you joyfully living out His will for your life?

As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him. Colossians 2:6

Judas knows that Jesus saves believers, not “make-believers.”

Praying

Lord, please conform my will into Your will, that I may glorify You everyday, in word and in deed.
