Jesus is Essential

John 8:44–47: You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”

Jesus put His very life on the line when He asked, “Which of you convinces me of sin?” This is one of the great proofs of the deity of Christ. Believe me, if any of His enemies had had one shred of evidence against Him, they would have used it. They have no logical answers for His questions.

So what do they do? They come up with ridicule. I learned this method long ago when I was on a debate team. When they have no logical answer, they resort to ridicule. Listen to the Jews. “You’re a Samaritan; you have a demon.” This is name–calling and pure ridicule. 1

Walking with Jesus

Does your personal frustration with someone else cause you to ridicule them? Once your conversation is no longer based on the truth, you will be heading down the road of deception. How can you hear God’s word, if you seldom study God’s word? Have you discovered that Satan and his demons love to lie about the Deity of Christ? (Deity – meaning that Jesus Christ is God, the Creator, the only One-True Eternal God.)

And there was much complaining among the people concerning Him. Some said, “He is good”; others said, “No, on the contrary, He deceives the people.” John 7:12

Decisions based on perception have some very presumptuous results.

Praying

Lord, help me to receive and believe Your truth and to reject all lies.
