Jesus is Essential

Mark 5:40–43: And they ridiculed Him. But when He had put them all outside, He took the father and the mother of the child, and those who were with Him, and entered where the child was lying. Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha, cumi,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” Immediately the girl arose and walked, for she was twelve years of age. And they were overcome with great amazement. But He commanded them strictly that no one should know it, and said that something should be given her to eat.

God’s Servant is the conqueror over danger, demons, disease, and death. This series of miracles illustrates how Jesus met and helped all kinds of people, from His own disciples to a pair of demoniacs; and it assures us that He is able to help us today.

This does not mean that God always must rescue His people from danger (see Acts 12) or heal every affliction (see 2 Cor. 12:1–10); but it does mean that He holds the ultimate authority and that we need never fear. 1

Walking with Jesus

What will it take for you to be overwhelmed with great amazement for your great God?

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Romans 8:37

God does the impossible all the time, if we are paying attention.

Praying

Lord, thank You for ministering to all the people, all the time.
