Psalm 5:11–12: But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You. For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield.
Experiencing Jesus in the Psalms
The psalm closes with a note of encouragement (be glad … sing for joy.… rejoice) that God blesses and protects those who love Him. Singing is a natural way to praise the Lord; this is the first of more than 70 references to singing in the Psalms. The righteous are those who love His name. The Lord’s “name” (mentioned more than 100 times in the Psalms) refers to His character and attributes revealed to mankind. Hear the manifestation of His name means protection and favor as with a shield. 1
Living the Transformed Life
Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; Let such as love Your salvation say continually, “The Lord be magnified!” Psalm 40:16
- Making a decision to rejoice in Jesus can change the outcome of your day.
- Loving Jesus as your Shepherd can give you confidence in your present circumstances.
- You can expect, and should expect, the blessing of the Lord upon your choice to live righteously for Him.
Only a few trust the Lord with rejoicing. Choose to be a part of the few.

Thank You Father, for helping me make the right choices in life. Dear Jesus, please teach me how to find my joy in You during times of great testing.
