Psalm 54:6–7: I will freely sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O Lord, for it is good. For He has delivered me out of all trouble.

Experiencing Jesus in the Psalms

In full confidence that God had heard his prayer and would deliver him from all the troubles brought on by his foes, David promised to praise God with a freewill offering. This refers to the fellowship offerings that accompanied and expressed praises for deliverance. They were offered voluntarily by devout believers. David again spoke of the Lord’s name as good. 1

Living the Transformed Life

Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, And declare His works with rejoicing. Psalm 107:22

  • Will you thank Him now for always being there for you in your desperate situations?
  • Will you praise Him now for always defending you in and through every battle?
  • Will you be a living sacrifice for Him (starting today)…since He sacrificially gave His life to rescue you from the penalty of sin and death?

We make many sacrifices that benefit our plans, but how many sacrifices do we make to benefit His plans…for His Kingdom?

Praise and Prayer

Thank You, Father, for always taking care of me in all of my troubles. Dear Jesus, help me to die to myself, and to live as a living sacrifice for Your glory.
