Psalm 37:39–40: But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in the time of trouble. And the Lord shall help them and deliver them; He shall deliver them from the wicked, And save them, Because they trust in Him.

Experiencing Jesus in the Psalms

But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord. By salvation is meant deliverance of every kind; not only the salvation which finally lands us in glory, but all the minor rescues along the way; these are all to be ascribed to the Lord alone. Let him have glory from those to whom he grants salvation. He is their strength in the time of trouble. While trouble overthrows the wicked, it only drives the righteous to their strong Helper, who rejoices to uphold them. 1

Living the Transformed Life

O Lord, be gracious to us; We have waited for You. Be their arm every morning, Our salvation also in the time of trouble. Isaiah 33:2

  • His salvation is a saving work to provide victory over the penalty of sin and death.
  • His salvation is a sustaining work to preserve in presenting the gospel to the world.
  • His salvation is a strengthening work to overcome life’s opposition with divine grace.

He saved us and He saves us.

Praise and Prayer

Thank You, Father, for extending Your saving grace from the cross to every aspect of my life. Dear Jesus, keep me looking to You for daily strength, until I see you face to face.
