Psalm 33:6–9: By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deep in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.
Experiencing Jesus in the Psalms
The Word of God is powerful! God used His voice to create. He brought the universe into existence by His word. He said, “… Let there be light: and there was light” (Gen. 1:3). Do you realize that everything came into existence when God spoke? God spoke into existence all created things. Vegetation, animal life, and man were all created by God’s word. What tremendous power there is in His Word! I don’t know how He did it, but I do know that God did it, and that is the important thing. 1
Living the Transformed Life
All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. John 1:3
- By the Word of the Lord – He said it and that settles it. (All other views of the origin of life are absolutely meaningless)
- By the Word of the Lord – His truth endures to all generations over all the earth. (Diversity and cultural relevance has no eternal relevance)
- By the Word of the Lord – His saving love overpowers every shadow of darkness. (Human goodness is no substitute for divine transformation)
He has spoken and it would be wise to listen and obey.
Praise and Prayer
Thank You, Father, for giving us Your Word and preserving it for all eternity. Dear Jesus, grant me the gracious boldness I need to stand strong for Your Word.
