1 Corinthians 9:15: But I have used none of these things, nor have I written these things that it should be done so to me; for it would be better for me to die than that anyone should make my boasting void.

IT IS WORTHWHILE PUTTING UP WITH ANYTHING rather than hinder the gospel’s progress (vv. 12, 15). ‘Knowledge’ would have said Paul had every right to earn his living by the gospel; ‘love’, however, said that he did not need to claim that right if others were helped by his not doing so (cf. v. 15). 1

Application

  • Read Romans 12:1. How can you be a living sacrifice today?
  • What is the most reasonable act of love that you can show your closest friend today?
