1 Corinthians 1:7–9: So that you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
He says “blameless”; he does not say they will be faultless. There will always be someone who will find fault with you. But you are not to be worthy of blame. “That ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.” And the “day of our Lord Jesus Christ” is not only referring to the present day, but to the day He will come and take His church out of the world. Paul will talk about that in this epistle also.
I feel that verse 9 is probably the key to the epistle. It emphasizes that the Lord Jesus Christ is the solution to the problems that they had in the church and also to the personal problems that were present among the believers in Corinth. It is startling to note the similarities between the problems in the Corinthian church and the problems today. The solution is the same now as it was then. 1
Application
- Read Jude 1:24. What word will Jesus use when He presents you before everyone who is in heaven?
- You have fellowship with Jesus by reading and obeying His word. So, how’s it going?
