Jesus is Essential
Luke 12:31–34: But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you. “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Jesus concluded with impeccable logic, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Heart and treasure always go together. Your heart, the center of your being, is where your valuables, your energies, your time, all the things you value most, are. Where is your heart? In your barns and storehouses? In a Swiss bank account? On the golf course? In your home? In your kitchen? In your yard? In your wardrobe? In your car? Or is it in Heaven? In your church? In the inner city of Chicago? In the poor? In Africa or China or South America or the islands of the sea?
If it is there, you have no worries! 1
Walking with Jesus
Do you like where your heart is today? What is it that you treasure the most? What would you like to treasure more.
“So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” Luke 12:21
If we value what God values, we can become invaluable to others.
Praying
Lord, teach me to seek the things of your kingdom everyday.
