Jesus is Essential

Matthew 10:32–33: Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.

When Christ confesses us before the Father, He is securing for us the benefits of His sacrificial work on the cross. When He denies us before the Father, He is unable to share these graces with us. The fault is ours, not His.

But something else is involved. One day we shall stand before His judgment seat where the rewards will be distributed. If we have denied Him, we will lose rewards and the joy of hearing His “Well done.” To be sure, anyone who denies Him on earth may be forgiven. Peter denied the Lord three times, was forgiven, and was restored. 1

Walking with Jesus

We can easily boast about our association with a local sports team, but why is it so hard to boast about the greatness of the One who rescued us from hell? Let your words express your heart for God with greater frequency…starting today.

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9–10

Jesus is not asking for your opinion about Him, He is asking for your confession of faith in Him.

Praying

Lord, thank You for teaching me that my words matter to You.
