Jesus is Essential
Luke 7:18–23: Then the disciples of John reported to him concerning all these things. And John, calling two of his disciples to him, sent them to Jesus, saying, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?” When the men had come to Him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to You, saying, ‘Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?’ ” And that very hour He cured many of infirmities, afflictions, and evil spirits; and to many blind He gave sight. Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”
John was looking for the Messiah and wanted to know if Christ was the one. He had pronounced the coming of the King. He was a highway builder for the King. John identified the Messiah.
John was expecting Christ to establish the Kingdom in all of its glory and power. Since this had not happened, John sent some of his disciples to ask if Christ was the One they were looking for, or were they to look for another? 1
Walking with Jesus
Discouragement can lead to depression and disillusionment. Allow the grace of God to lift your head and heart today. Ask for a new filling of His Holy Spirit. Read His Word expecting to hear from Him.
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” Luke 11:13
We become confused when we take our eyes off His majesty.

Lord, thank You for being the One and Only for all eternity.
