Romans 3:19: Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

Paul’s charge still stands today. The entire human race—Jews or Gentiles, religious or irreligious, pious or pagans—is utterly depraved and guilty before God. 1

Man’s depravity is seen in his rush to violence. Will Durant wrote in his Lessons From History: “In the last 3,421 years of recorded history only 268 have seen no war.” During World War II it was estimated that it took $225,000 to kill one enemy soldier. I wonder how much is being spent by the major nations today. Man loves violence! 2

Application

  • The first step to freedom is to admit that you are a prisoner of sin.
  • To admit guilt is to say: “I want to be accountable for my sin.” Then you will discover that God has placed “in your account” His saving grace and His sustaining justification to open the emotional prison doors and set you free: spiritually, mentally, emotionally and intellectually.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for making a way for me to be released from the burden of my sin.
