FAITH: Comes by Hearing the Word of God

Romans 7:8–9: But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For apart from the law sin was dead. I was alive once without the law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died.

FAITH: Comes by Studying the Word of God

Since we have a sinful nature, the Law is bound to arouse that nature the way a magnet draws steel. Something in human nature wants to rebel whenever a law is given. Believers who try to live by rules and regulations discover that their legalistic system only arouses more sin and creates more problems. The churches in Galatia were very legalistic, and they experienced all kinds of trouble. Their legalism did not make them more spiritual; it made them more sinful! Why? Because the Law arouses sin in our nature. 1

FAITH: Comes by Obeying the Word of God

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. Romans 8:7

If the sign says: “wet paint, do not touch”…why do you feel compelled to touch it? Because the law stirs the desire to sin. The law will expose the dark sin in your soul. The law can not fix your sin problem. It can only scream that you are a sinner. Trying to be more law abiding in your own power and strength will only reveal how weak and needy you truly are. The law is a tutor (instructor), to bring you to the grace of Christ, and to receive His finish work on the cross for your redemption from sin.

FAITH: Comes by Experiencing the Transforming Work of God

More law makes you more lawless; More grace makes you more gracious. – TWEET IT

FAITH: Comes by Praying with the Word of God

Whoever keeps the whole law, yet stumbles in one point, is guilty of all. James 2:10

Dear Father, take You for removing all my guilt and shame…in Jesus’ name. Amen.
