Revelation 2:25: But hold fast what you have till I come.

Jesus and His Word

The Lord had no special demands to make; He simply wanted them to hold fast in their resistance to evil. “Till I come” refers to Christ’s return for His people, at which time He will reward them for their faithfulness. This is the first mention in Revelation of the Lord’s coming for the church, the event we commonly call the Rapture. In contrast, the reference in Revelation 1:7 is to Christ’s return to earth in judgment, to defeat His enemies and establish His kingdom (see Rev. 19:11-16). 1

Jesus and His Ways

  • Jesus, thank You for holding me by Your grace, so I can hold onto only the things that bring You glory. – “Test all things; hold fast what is good.” 1 Thessalonians 5:21
  • Jesus, thank You for holding me by Your grace, so I can hold onto my confession of faith and proclaim Your redemption to the world. – “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.” Hebrews 4:14
  • Jesus, thank You for holding me by Your grace, so I can hold onto my confession of hope, and walk down the straight and narrow road of life. – “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23

Jesus and His Promise

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:3
