Revelation 2:12: And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write, ‘These things says He who has the sharp two-edged sword:

Jesus and His Word

This letter was addressed, as were other letters, to the angel or messenger of the church, which was probably the one we would call the pastor. “These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges” means the Word of God. The Word of God has the answer to man’s need and man’s sin, which in Pergamum was false religion. It was a city that emphasized religion, and the only way it could be reached would be by the Word of God. 1

Jesus and His Ways

  • Jesus, thank You for Your Word that ministers to the heart of every problem in my life. – “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
  • Jesus, thank You for Your Word that gives every believer the assurance of saving faith and eternal life. – “Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.” 1 Peter 1:23
  • Jesus, thank You for Your Word that speaks the truth about all matters of life and Your Word works the work of God in us and through us. – “For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.” 1 Thessalonians 2:13

Jesus and His Promise

“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:17
