Psalm 32:7: You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah

Experiencing Jesus in the Psalms

Short sentences make up this verse, but they contain a world of meaning. Personal claims upon our God are the joy of spiritual life. Thou shalt preserve me from trouble. Trouble will do me no real harm when the Lord is with me; rather it will bring me much benefit, like the file which clears away the rust, but does not destroy the metal. Thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. What a golden sentence! The man is encircled in song, surrounded by dancing mercies, all of them proclaiming the triumphs of grace. Before him hope sounds the cymbals, and behind him gratitude beats the timbrel. How great a change! What wonders grace has done and still can do! This means there was need of a pause (called Selah), for love so amazing needs to be pondered, and joy so great demands quiet contemplation, since language fails to express it. 1

Living the Transformed Life

For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. Psalm 27:5

  • When we hide ourselves with Him, we hide our hearts from worldly temptations.
  • When we hide ourselves with Him, we hide our eyes from worldly seductions.
  • When we hide ourselves with Him, we hide our hands from worldly possessions.

Our hiding place is not a secret place to the One who has been waiting for us. – TWEET IT

Praise and Prayer

Thank You, Father, for inviting me to be with You away from all my unsolved troubles. Dear Jesus, draw me away, with greater frequency, to that secret place with You.
