Proverbs 31:14: She is like the merchant ships, she brings her food from afar.
Insight
The noble wife also does shopping. She is like … merchant ships that brought unusual and fascinating merchandise from other places. She too brought interesting and unusual items home from her shopping. 1
Application
Do not let a widow under sixty years old be taken into the number, and not unless she has been the wife of one man, well reported for good works: if she has brought up children, if she has lodged strangers, if she has washed the saints’ feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently followed every good work. 1 Timothy 5:9–10
Paul communicates to Timothy and to us the blessed ministry that women have in the Body of Christ. At the end of her life, and even after her husband has departed to be with Jesus, notice the report that is made about her life. Women, even if your work does not seem to be appreciated today, please remember that God takes note of all you do. Be encouraged and keep being diligent, doing the things that please the Lord. He will reward you openly on that glorious day, that is coming very soon!
Motivation
Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him to the upper room. And all the widows stood by him weeping, showing the tunics and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them. Acts 9:39
Serving others is never a waste, if the serving that we do is to the glory of the Lord. – TWEET IT
Prayer
