Proverbs 24:16: For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.

Insight

A man came to me when I was a pastor in Pasadena. He said, “I have failed so many times and I am ashamed to go back to the Lord and tell Him again that I have failed and want to start over.” I told him, “You may be ashamed, but the Lord is not. He is ready to start you out again.” Then he asked, “How many times do you suppose you can fail and still come back?” I told him, “I don’t know, but I am working up in the hundreds myself, and I still go to Him.” 1

Application

Read this and you will be greatly encouraged by God’s commitment to you:

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand. I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread. He is ever merciful, and lends; And his descendants are blessed.” Psalm 37:23–26

Can you take five minutes right now and remember all the ways that God has shown His faithfulness to you over your lifetime, especially when you had failed in your spiritual walk? Will you thank Him and praise Him, and surrender everything again to Him today? Will you re-enlist back into your service for Him?

Motivation

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers…” Psalm 34:19

Prayer

Father, thank You for never getting tired of me returning to You again and again.
