Proverbs 24:7: Wisdom is too lofty for a fool; He does not open his mouth in the gate.

Insight

The wise man is not rash. As he goes out to meet the enemy, he avails himself of the counsel and experience of others. He is not an egoist. His safety is in his willingness to hear what others soberly present. 1

Application

Receive the wisdom from Jesus when it comes to counting the cost.

Luke 14:28–32: For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it—lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace.

Is there any building project or venture in faith that you are currently considering, that may require some greater cost analysis and wise evaluation, before you begin?

Motivation

Prepare your outside work, make it fit for yourself in the field; And afterward build your house. Proverbs 24:27

Prayer

Father, it is Your wisdom in advance that I need. Please show me Your way.
