Proverbs 10:5: He who gathers in summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.

Insight

The wise son … gathers his blessing at the appropriate time. Look again at the large harvest of opportunity in working for God. Galatians 6:10 says: “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” What a wonderful privilege it is to gather with Christ in such a harvest. And how disgraceful it is to do nothing when there is so much to be done. May the Lord keep me from being like he who sleeps, perhaps in the very house of God, instead of listening to the voice from heaven. This brings shame on my minister, my church, and my Lord. 1

Application

Consider becoming an Ephesians 2:10 follower of Jesus. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” What is His work for you? Why is every work that we do for Him considered to be a “good work?” Are you walking in His ways, or are you waking in your ways?

Motivation

But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62

His opportunities are unlimited, unfortunately, His participants are few. – TWEET IT

Prayer

Father, please teach us how to know Your will, and how to do Your will.
