Proverbs 3:15–18: She is more precious than rubies, and all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. Length of days is in her right hand, in her left hand riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who retain her.
Insight
It requires study and effort and time to grasp the Word of God. The spirit of God does not open the Word of God to lazy minds, but to those who are alert and want to learn and know the will of God and the Word of God. One of the great problems today is that many people are not willing to make the sacrifice to study God’s Word. A great deal of laziness is covered with pious jargon and pious platitudes. Many folk have developed a neat little vocabulary that sounds good and covers up a woeful ignorance of the Word of God. In these days there is no excuse for being ignorant of the Word of God. It requires work, it is true, but the ways of wisdom are the ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. 1
Application
The wisdom of God is personified as she. Wisdom is more precious than rubies. The path of wisdom is peaceable. If you are looking forward to bearing fruit, it will never happen if the wisdom of God’s Word has just a shallow existence in your heart.
Motivation
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
When you work as hard at studying the Bible as you do at laboring in the work place, you will be filled with the wisdom of God. – TWEET IT
Prayer
Father, help me to desire the things that You desire.
