Proverbs 1:23: urn at my rebuke; Surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.
Insight
The person who is aware of his own darkness and knows that nothing other than God’s power can teach him must turn his ear to wisdom. This is not because the Word is dark, since it is light itself, but because he is dark and thus totally unable to receive instructions. Such people do not respond to God’s rebuke and so fail to benefit from all he offers them. They refuse to listen, and that is why God says, I would have poured out my heart to you and made my thoughts known to you. 1
Application
Jesus spoke clearly in Revelation: “Those who have ears to hear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” We are now living in those final days of prophecy. Jesus warned us to listen and obey Him. We need His wisdom every day. Jesus will supply His power if we were willing to surrender our own. Is there any disobedience that is preventing His outpouring in your life? What would you be willing to surrender to Him today? Is He able to demonstrate His Lordship in your life?
Motivation
Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41
He willingly responds to those who are willing to obey. – TWEET IT
Prayer
Father, please forgive my selfish hesitation to respond with full obedience to Your correction and direction. Please pour Your Spirit out upon me. I need You.
