John 9:13–17: They brought him who formerly was blind to the Pharisees. Now it was a Sabbath when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes. Then the Pharisees also asked him again how he had received his sight. He said to them, “He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see.” Therefore some of the Pharisees said, “This Man is not from God, because He does not keep the Sabbath.” Others said, “How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” And there was a division among them.
They said to the blind man again, “What do you say about Him because He opened your eyes?” He said, “He is a prophet.”
The Pharisees believed that since Jesus “violated” the Sabbath He was a false prophet turning the people away from God. So they concluded, This Man is not from God. Later they said Jesus was “a sinner.” Others concluded that the signs were so impressive that a sinner could not do them. Of course a false prophet could do deceptive signs. The Pharisees then were divided. The healed blind man’s opinion was that Jesus is a prophet. Old Testament prophets sometimes performed miracles which marked them out as God’s men. 1
Your Word is Truth
Since Jesus is more than a prophet, He knows everything about you and your future. It would, therefore, be very wise to ask Him for His help to lead you in the right direction.
The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. –2 Thessalonians 2:9–10
You Alone are God
Jesus has proven that He is more than a prophet by His resurrection. – TWEET IT
Your Will be Done
Lord, thank You for being my Prophet, Priest, and King.
