John 6:30–34: Therefore they said to Him, “What sign will You perform then, that we may see it and believe You? What work will You do? Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ” Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.”
There had just been a miracle the day before, but that miracle was not enough. We are the same way. We say, “God, if we can just have another miracle, if you would just do something else for me today … !” We forget what he has done in our lives already. One of the reasons David had so much power in his life was that he had not forgotten what God had done when he faced the lion and the bear, and that gave him the courage to face Goliath. 1
Your Word is Truth
Would you please take a few minutes and think about all the things that God has done for you this year? Even in the storms, He has been there for you. Even seeing all His beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Will you allow His faithfulness to strengthen your heart today in order to take on the new challenges before you?
