FAITH: Comes by Hearing the Word of God
Romans 8:18: For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
FAITH: Comes by Studying the Word of God
Paul reminded his readers that sharing in the glory of Christ in the future required sharing “in His sufferings” in this life. But after careful figuring (I consider) Paul concluded that our present sufferings are far outweighed by the glory that will be revealed in (as well as to and through) us. This future glory is so great that present sufferings are insignificant by comparison. Also the glory is forever, whereas the suffering is temporary and light. Certainly this truth can help believers endure afflictions. It also serves as a topical discussion on the relationship between believers and the whole Creation, both in their afflictions and in their future glory. 1
FAITH: Comes by Obeying the Word of God
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. 2 Corinthians 4:17
Be careful not to collapse under the pressures and demands and uncertainty of life. There are many challenges that can create suffering and despair and defeat. During these times of difficulty, look forward to a future with Jesus. What He has in the future for us is far better than what we are contending with now. Do not let the sufferings and heartache of today, steal away the glory of tomorrow.
FAITH: Comes by Experiencing the Transforming Work of God
Today’s pain will pale in light of tomorrows eternal glory.
FAITH: Comes by Praying with the Word of God
But rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. 1 Peter 4:13
