Romans 8:30: Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

“Those he justified, he also glorified.” James Denny, one-time principal of Free Church College, Edinburgh, called this, “the most daring anticipation of faith that … the New Testament contains.… ” Denny said this because “glorified” is in the past tense. Believers are spoken of as already glorified—their glorification is that certain! Here on earth we comprise an incredible array of individuals. But when we get to Heaven, we will all be like Jesus. We will retain our individuality, but we will also have Christ’s character—the same gentleness, the same self-control, the same perfect love. This ought to fuel our confidence! Everything that happens in life is used by God to prepare us in some way for the future revelation of glory. The immense certainty of this rests on the fact that everything is of God. We are going to be like Jesus. The family resemblance both in body and spirit is unmistakable. 1

Application

  • When did God call you? (Romans 5:8) When did God justify you? (Romans 5:1)
  • When did God glorify you? (Ephesians 2:4-7)

Prayer

Lord, thank You for teaching me today that all the work for my entry into heaven has been completely finished in Christ.
