FAITH: Comes by Hearing the Word of God
Romans 6:19: I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.
FAITH: Comes by Studying the Word of God
The word “slavery” appropriately describes an unregenerate person’s relationship to sin and to Satan. So Paul used “slavery” for contrasting the relationship of the believer as well. Apparently Paul felt that his readers’ spiritual perception was feeble so he used this terminology from human experience. Unsaved Romans had offered their bodies to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness. They had voluntarily become enslaved! But Paul exhorted believers now to offer themselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness. 1
FAITH: Comes by Obeying the Word of God
And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
Do you remember the way you once lived? No matter how nice of a person you were, you were still just a nice sinful person. I know that expression may sound rather insulting to some, but it is the truth. Because of pride, many times we do not realize how desperately into sin we were. We were all slaves, for all have sinned. Thank Jesus now for washing away every past, present, and future sin.
FAITH: Comes by Experiencing the Transforming Work of God
One of the most redeeming phase is: “And such were some of you!”
FAITH: Comes by Praying with the Word of God
“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. John 15:9
Dear Father, may I use my members as slaves of righteousness for your glory…in Jesus Name. Amen.
