FAITH: Comes by Hearing the Word of God
Romans 6:6: Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.
FAITH: Comes by Studying the Word of God
“Knowing this”—these are things we know. When Paul says your “old man” is crucified with Him, he doesn’t mean your father; he means your old nature is crucified with Him. “That the body of sin might be destroyed”—the word destroyed is, meaning “to make of none effect, to be paralyzed or canceled or nullified”—“that henceforth we should not serve sin.” Paul is not saying that the old nature is eradicated. He is saying that since the old man was crucified, the body of sin has been put out of business, so that from now on we should not be in bondage to sin. 1
FAITH: Comes by Obeying the Word of God
And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:24–25
Thank You Jesus for telling us all the things we need to know. Since we still live in these bodies and in this world, it is difficult to understand how we are suppose to live out the Christian faith. Our flesh once dominated our lives and still wants to hold that #1 position as a dictator over us. But Christ now reigns on the throne of our heart. That means our flesh is now under new management. Our flesh can no longer “boss us around,” because Jesus dwells in us through the presence of the Holy Spirit. That means there is a new Leader with a new power to lead us in a new way.
FAITH: Comes by Experiencing the Transforming Work of God
If you know Him, you will know all you will ever need to know.
FAITH: Comes by Praying with the Word of God
Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. John 8:36
