Psalm 112:5: A good man deals graciously and lends; He will guide his affairs with discretion.
Experiencing Jesus in the Psalms
Providence has made him able to lend, and grace makes him willing to lend. He is not a borrower, for God has lifted him above that necessity; neither is he a hoarder, for his new nature saves him from that temptation; but he wisely uses the talents committed to him. He will guide his affairs with discretion. When a man is truly upright he exercises great care in managing his accounts, in order that he may remain so. True religion is sanctified common sense. Attention to the things of heaven does not necessitate the neglect of the affairs of earth; on the contrary, he who has learned how to transact business with God ought to be best able to do business with men. 1
Living the Transformed Life
But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. Luke 6:35
- Generosity…would you consider yourself to be a giver or a taker? Jesus said wherever your treasure is, there your heart will be also!
- Generosity…do you honor the Lord, by giving generously and joyfully to His church, the first fruits of your income, or does He just get your financial leftovers?
- Generosity…do you have a personal testimony to share about how the Lord has multiplied back to you 30, 60, or 100% beyond what you sowed in faith?
Giving does not obligate God, but He does love to bless a cheerful giver!
Praise and Prayer
Thank You, Father, for being so generous with Your love, grace and mercy. Dear Jesus, teach me to trust You more in the stewardship of all my resources.
