Psalm 46:4: There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.

Experiencing Jesus in the Psalms

There is a river. Divine grace, like a smoothly flowing, fertilizing, full, and never-failing river, yields refreshment and consolation to believers. The streams are clear, cool, fresh, abundant, and gladdening. In seasons of trial all-sufficient grace will be given to enable us to endure to the end. The church is peculiarly the “City of God,” dedicated to his praise, and glorified by his presence. To be a temple for the Holy Ghost is the delightful portion of each saint; to be the living temple for the Lord our God is also the high honor of the church in her corporate capacity. The church contains as clear and convincing a revelation of God as the works of nature. To have the Most High dwelling within her members is to make the church on earth like the church in heaven. 1

Living the Transformed Life

Oh, that you had heeded My commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea. Isaiah 48:18

  • Since He dwells within me, I will yield to His power, and not my own.
  • Since He dwells within me, I will worship Him, and stop worrying about the unknown concerns and all consuming fears.
  • Since He dwells within me, I will walk by faith, and trust His leadership and Lordship.

His streams are enough to sustain my soul through the seasons of deep sorrow.

Praise and Prayer

Thank You, Father, for being the stream of living water that nourishes my soul. Dear Jesus, may You teach me to meditate upon Your dwelling place within me.
