Psalm 27:3–4: Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident. One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple.

Experiencing Jesus in the Psalms

David had whittled his life down to one point: “One thing have I desired of the Lord.” Also Paul did that with his life. He said, “… but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 3:13–14). In this day, whittle down your life. Our lives are very complicated, so just keep whittling. We have access to God through Christ, and this is the thing we ought to rejoice in. In the house of God was the mercy seat. David needed mercy, and I need mercy—and I am sure you do also. In the house of God was an altar that spoke of the cross of Christ. You and I can approach God through the Lord Jesus today. We have access into this marvelous grace. What a privilege to have access to God! 1

Living the Transformed Life

And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13

  • The one thing I shall seek – is His heart in prayer before my day begins.
  • The one thing I shall seek – is His truth in His Word; to know Him and obey Him.
  • The one thing I shall seek – is His Spirit in faith; to be filled for His service and glory.

May He become the One we seek, with wonder and amazement.

Praise and Prayer

Thank You, Father, being my One and only, for every situation I face. Dear Jesus, please help me to forsake me and to seek Thee.
