Romans 6:15: What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!
The Christian life is not following certain rules; you can follow rules and regulations and still not be living the Christian life. Somebody asks, “Then what is the Christian life?” The Christian life is to be obedient unto Christ. It means communication with Christ. My friend, do you love Him? That’s the important thing. He says, “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15). Identification with Christ is positional sanctification, as we have seen. That is basic. But obedience to Christ is the experience of sanctification, and that is practical sanctification. It is just as simple as that, my friend. It is not how you walk, but where you walk—are you walking in the light, walking in fellowship with Christ?. 1
Application
- Does the overflowing fountain of His grace upon your life make you want to sin more or to sin less? Why?
- Since you still face daily temptations to sin, how do you “experience” His sanctifying grace not to sin? What decisions of obedience are most important to make when temptation comes “a knock’n?”
Prayer
Lord, help me to obey Your word instantly and not pursue the desires of my flesh.
