Revelation 2:7: “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”
Jesus and His Word
In these seven messages, the “overcomer’s” are not a “spiritual elite,” but rather the true believers whose faith has given them victory. Sinful man was banned from the tree of life (Gen. 3:22–24), but in Christ we have eternal abundant life (John 3:16; 10:10). We enjoy this blessing now, and we shall enjoy it in greater measure in eternity. The church of Ephesus was the “careless church,” made up of careless believers who neglected their love for Christ. Are we guilty of the same neglect? 1
Jesus and His Ways
- Jesus, thank You for overcoming all my sins on the cross and for giving me the faith to believe that You are the Son of God. – “Whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God” 1 John 5:4–5
- Jesus, thank You for being my Bread of Life and my Tree of Life, for without You I can do nothing. – “Blessed are those who do His commandments, they have the right to the tree of life, and enter through the gates into the city.” Revelation 22:14
- Jesus, thank You for making a literal Paradise for all Your children to be with You, for all eternity. – “Paul was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.” 2 Corinthians 12:4
