Jesus and His Word
The Lord’s return is the hope of every Christian. Then He will give out the crowns for service on that day. Observe the warning: “Let no man take thy crown.” It is not, “Let no man take thy life,” or “thy salvation.” That is eternally secure in Christ. I cannot lose my salvation; but, if I am not a faithful servant, I may lose my crown. 1
Jesus and His Ways
- Jesus, thank You for the crown of righteousness. I want to live each day, for that coming day, when I will see You face to face. – “Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:8
- Jesus, thank You for the crown of life. I desperately need You every day to delivery me from temptation. I want to be holy, just like You. – “Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” James 1:12
- Jesus, thank You for the crown of glory. I want to serve others, just like my Shepherd has served me, and gave His life for me. – “Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock; and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.” 1 Peter 5:2–4
