Discipleship Living

The Cure for the Faint-Hearted

Discipleship Living: Psalms

Psalm 27:13–14: I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!

Experiencing Jesus in the Psalms

Faintness of heart is a common infirmity; even Goliath’s killer was subject to its attacks. Hope is heaven’s balm for present sorrow. Wait on the Lord. Wait at his door with prayer; wait at his foot with humility; wait at his table with service; wait at his window with expectancy. Be of good courage. A soldier’s motto. Courage we shall need, and we have reason to exercise it if we are soldiers of King Jesus. And he shall strengthen thine heart. What strength is this which God gives to the heart? “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage.” When we do that the Lord will strengthen our hearts. He is really the great heart specialist. 1

Living the Transformed Life

But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
