Discipleship Living: Psalms

Psalm 62:9–10: Surely men of low degree are a vapor, men of high degree are a lie; If they are weighed on the scales, They are altogether lighter than vapor. Do not trust in oppression, nor vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, do not set your heart on them.

Experiencing Jesus in the Psalms

The psalmist warned that it is foolish to trust in humans. He described how transitory life is, whether a person is of low or high position. People are nothing but a breath “a vapor.” They are so insignificant that, if weighed, the scales would not even move. Their might is powerless against God. Therefore one should not trust in the powerful advances of the wicked. Riches are not to be trusted either. 1

Living the Transformed Life

Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away like an eagle toward heaven. Proverbs 23:5

Praise and Prayer

Thank You, Father, for always being available, any hour of any day. Dear Jesus, please teach me how to experience a life that is “hidden in You.”
