Discipleship Living

Short-Sighted Success

Discipleship Living: Psalms

Psalm 52:7: Here is the man who did not make God his strength, but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.

Experiencing Jesus in the Psalms

Look and read the epitaph of a mighty man who lorded it proudly during his little hour. This is the man that made not God his strength. He found a fortress, but not in God; he gloried in his might, but not in the Almighty. Where is he now? Behold his ruin, and be instructed. But trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness. The substance he had gathered, and the mischiefs he had wrought, were his boast and glory. Wealth and wickedness are dreadful companions. Wherever we see today a man great in sin and substance, we shall do well to anticipate his end. 1

Living the Transformed Life

Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord. Jeremiah 17:5

If your life is only built upon the “here and now,” your will be greatly grieved when the “then and forever” arrives. – TWEET IT

Praise and Prayer

Thank You, Father, for opening my eyes to the reality of life beyond the grave. Dear Jesus, forgive me for delighting in the temporal, and for losing sight of the eternal.
