Psalm 114:5: What ails you, O sea, that you fled? O Jordan, that you turned back?
Experiencing Jesus in the Psalms
The God of creation (whom we saw in Psalm 113 with His omnipotent power) rolled back the Red Sea, and He also held back the waters of Jordan. When the children of Israel crossed the Red Sea they had been delivered from Egypt by blood—blood on the doorposts. When they crossed over Jordan they were separated from the wilderness and brought into the Promised Land. These illustrate the two stages of our redemption. The Lord Jesus, on the cross, has delivered us from the penalty of sin—that is for the past. He delivers us from the power of sin in the present—and He will deliver us from the presence of sin, which has not yet been realized. 1
Living the Transformed Life
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20
- Redemption…was prophesied in Genesis. Do you rejoice in His fulfilled promises in your life?
- Redemption…was provided in Christ on the cross. Are you humbled by His atonement for you?
- Redemption…is experienced daily in a believers life. Are you committed to dying to yourself each day, and taking up your cross to follow Him?
Redemption is a finished work that is experienced daily. – TWEET IT
Praise and Prayer
Thank You, Father, for revealing and fulfilling Your eternal plan of redemption. Dear Jesus, please teach me how to die to myself and live for You.
