Experiencing Jesus in the Psalms
Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth. That mouth had been used in prayer; it would be a pity if it should ever be defiled with untruth, or pride, or wrath. When the Lord becomes the guard of our mouth the whole person is well garrisoned. Keep the door of my lips. In times of persecution we are especially liable to speak hastily, or evasively, and therefore we should be specially anxious to be preserved in that direction from every form of sin. 1
Living the Transformed Life
I said, “I will guard my ways, Lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, While the wicked are before me.” Psalm 39:1
- Pray for wisdom to use the right words at the right time. – Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth. Ephesians 4:29a
- Pray for words that will build up and not tear down. – May you choose words that are good for necessary edification. Ephesians 4:29b
- Pray for words that come from a heart of grace and love. -That your words may impart grace to the hearers. Ephesians 4:29c

Thank You, Father, for speaking Your living Words to me. Dear Jesus, please transform my heart and my words, by Your Spirit.
