Proverbs 28:23: He who rebukes a man will find more favor afterward than he who flatters with the tongue.
Insight
Giving a needed rebuke rather than overlooking it or flattering a person is difficult. But in the end (later) a wise person is grateful for it. 1
Application
Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. Galatians 6:1
When the Lord leads you to have that necessary conversation with a friend, I pray that His loving grace, (that has corrected you in the past), be the same kind of grace that you display. As you communicate some very important relational truths, hopefully they will be received with an open heart. And may they have a new desire to humbly correct any wrongs done. A wise person will welcome such a spirit-led conversation.
Motivation
Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. Matthew 18:15
