Proverbs: Get Wisdom

A Wise Investment

Proverbs 3:13–15

Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, and her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, and all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.

Insight

Some people know the price of everything but the value of nothing; consequently, they make unwise choices and end up with shoddy merchandise. You take what you want from life, and you pay for it. It’s good to have the things money can buy, provided you don’t lose the things money can’t buy. What good is an expensive house if there’s no happy home within it? Happiness, pleasantness, and peace aren’t the guaranteed by-products of financial success, but they are guaranteed to the person who lives by God’s wisdom. 1

Application

Please audit your spiritual bank account. How often are you making deposits of faith, hope, and love? How often are you investing time in His Word? How often are you serving in the Body of Christ when it is inconvenient with your schedule? How often do you share about your life of faith in Christ? Are you purposefully making disciples?

Motivation

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it. Matthew 13:45–46

The value of a loving marriage has no price tag because it is priceless.

Prayer

Father, thank You for the value you placed on me through Your redeeming love. May I return the favor by living a sanctified life for Your glory.
