Experiencing Jesus in the Psalms
David said, “I want to walk before God.” Today we are enjoined to walk in the Holy Spirit. “… Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh” (Gal. 5:16). God has given us more than a walking stick. He has given us the indwelling Holy Spirit. To walk in the Spirit means to utterly and absolutely depend on the Spirit of God. This gets right down to where the rubber meets the road. We learn to walk in the Spirit as we learned to walk physically, by trying it. Of course we will fail time and time again, but we are to get up, dust ourselves off, and start out again. You will learn to walk in the Spirit if you keep at it and commit yourself to Him every day. 1
Living the Transformed Life
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12
- Walking in the Spirit is a daily choice, lived out moment by moment.
- Walking in the Spirit is a daily discipline to defeat the pursuit of any carnal desires.
- Walking in the Spirit is the normal Christian life, not an option for some spiritual elite, but a surrendered determination for all believers who purposefully want to live a godly life that glorifies the Father.
Allow Him to walk before you, then in holy humility, follow passionately after Him.
Praise and Prayer
Thank You, Father, for giving us all we need, to follow wholeheartedly after You. Dear Jesus, thank You for teaching me how to die to myself, and how to walk in the Spirit.
