Psalm 148:13: Let them praise the name of the Lord, For His name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and heaven.
Experiencing Jesus in the Psalms
One reason they should praise is that His name is glorious. As Creator, His own splendor is greater than that of all His Creation. The psalmist summoned the people’s praise (halelû-yāh) for God’s word and His work. 1
Living the Transformed Life
O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth! Psalm 8:1
- Look upward, and see Him as your Creator, and praise Him for loving you. – “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” Isaiah 6:3
- Look upward, and see Him as your Redeemer, and praise Him for saving you. – “O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth!” Psalm 8:1
- Look upward, and see Him as your Lord, and praise Him for leading you. – “Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, The power and the glory, The victory and the majesty; For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours.” -1 Chronicles 29:11
Look upward, not inward.

Thank You, Father, for sharing Your glorious creation with us. Dear Jesus, I want to give You praise when I see Your work and read Your word.
