Psalm 146:1–2: Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul! While I live I will praise the Lord; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.
Experiencing Jesus in the Psalms
After the initial Praise the Lord (halelû-yāh), which begins and ends each of Psalms 146–150, the psalmist vowed to praise the Lord all his life. 1
Living the Transformed Life
Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Psalm 103:1
- Praise the Lord for His greatness as our Creator and His humility as our Savior. – “Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, You are very great: You are clothed with honor and majesty.” Psalm 104:1
- Praise the Lord for giving you every breath to live and every reason to rejoice. – Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. Psalm 63:4
- Praise the Lord for saving you and for giving you His Holy Spirit as an eternal guarantee of His finished work on the cross…just for you. – Every day I will bless You, And I will praise Your name forever and ever. Psalm 145:2
When we praise the Lord, we look to Him and not to us.
Praise and Prayer
Thank You, Father, for making a plan for me to be with You for all eternity. Dear Jesus, make me one who praises You in the sunshine, and in the storms.
